Shop Massachusetts Compliant Handguns
One of the first questions many of our customers ask us is: "What is a Massachusetts-compliant handgun?" In short, the government of Massachusetts has instituted strict controls on what handguns can be bought and sold within the Commonwealth, and at Cape Gun Works, we follow these controls in several ways.
When you look through our online inventory of firearms, one of the first filters you'll come across is for MA-compliant firearms. You can turn this filter off if you want to see the full inventory or keep it on if you plan on staying in the state.
We offer handguns from all major brands, including Smith & Wesson, Walther, and Glock. We also offer a huge selection of calibers, from .22 all the way up to .50 caliber.
Best Practices When Looking for a Handgun Online
The first step you should take when you're shopping online for a handgun is to choose your dealer. You should only purchase guns from dealers that have a Federal Firearms License or FFL. This allows the dealer to perform a background check on you and legally transfer the handgun to you.
Our team at Cape Gun Works is fully licensed in this regard.
When you order your handgun from our online inventory, it will automatically be processed through our system, and we'll place the order and have it shipped to our spacious warehouse on Cape Cod, MA. You'll also provide the needed information for the background check at this stage. Once everything is in order, you can pick up your new handgun from us, we can also ship it directly to you, or we can also ship it right to your local firearms dealer for a transfer.
One of the downsides of shopping for firearms online is that you can't get a good idea of how a handgun feels through your computer screen. That's why we have a wide variety of firearms on our rental wall. If you're ever unsure of what would be a good fit for you, feel free to ask one of our staff.

Can You Conceal Carry in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts does allow for concealed carry of certain firearms. This is called Licensed To Carry, or LTC, and in order to apply, you need to take a training course. LTC courses are some of the most popular classes we have at CGW, and we also offer private lessons for additional training outside of our standing lessons.
How Much Do Handguns Cost?
The price of handguns can vary based on supply and demand. In general, you can expect to pay a minimum of $250 for a new handgun, with mid-range models from name brands usually running between $400 and $600. Highly collectible, limited edition and specialty handguns can sell for much more, but there's no reason you should break the bank for your first purchase.
